Our Story
At the International Institute of Gastronomy (IIG), our journey is one of passion, vision, and a deep commitment to shaping the future of Nepal’s culinary landscape. Founded in the post-pandemic era by young and dedicated visionaries, IIG emerged as a response to the shifting educational and economic needs of the country. With Nepal’s heavy reliance on tourism and hospitality, the pandemic revealed both challenges and opportunities, highlighting the urgent need for skill-based education that could offer stable and rewarding careers.
The founders of IIG, deeply embedded in the hospitality and vocational education sectors, witnessed firsthand the struggles of Nepali youths seeking opportunities abroad. Many lacked the practical skills necessary to succeed in competitive job markets, often starting from entry-level positions in foreign kitchens. Driven by a desire to change this narrative, the founders established IIG to provide young Nepalis with world-class culinary training, empowering them to thrive both domestically and internationally.
Our institute stands as a beacon of opportunity, offering a unique gateway for those passionate about the culinary arts. Whether students seek to establish their careers at home or abroad, our hands-on training programs are designed to equip them with the skills and confidence to excel in any kitchen. At IIG, we believe that culinary mastery transcends borders, and we are dedicated to helping our students develop the expertise to lead in the global hospitality industry.
Transforming Culinary Education in Nepal
IIG offers a range of courses tailored to meet international standards, from our flagship 1-year Certificate III in Commercial Cookery program, which includes a 6-month internship, to short-term and quick courses for those looking to enhance their skills in specific culinary areas. Our curriculum is meticulously designed in partnership with a Registered Training Organization (RTO) in Australia, Australian Business and Culinary Institute (ABC) and the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) in Nepal. This ensures that our students receive dual certifications, access to world-class resources, and the opportunity to meet international culinary standards.
Since our inception, IIG has successfully trained over 250 students, with many of our graduates securing job placements in Nepal, Australia, and the Middle East through our comprehensive career assistance programs. Our partnerships with prestigious hotels, fine-dining restaurants, and international recruitment agencies provide a direct pathway for our students to enter the workforce with confidence and skill.
Empowering the Next Generation of Culinary Professionals
Our mission is clear: to empower Nepali youths with the skills, knowledge, and professionalism needed to thrive in the culinary world. We aim to change the way vocational education is perceived in Nepal by offering an alternative to traditional academic paths. As more students and families recognize the value of practical, hands-on training, IIG continues to be at the forefront of this shift.
The International Institute of Gastronomy is more than a culinary school—it’s a transformative experience that opens doors to a world of opportunities. We are proud to contribute to the growth of Nepal’s culinary and hospitality sectors while also helping our graduates achieve success on a global scale. Through our commitment to excellence, we aspire to create a new generation of culinary professionals who are not only skilled in their craft but also capable of elevating the standards of hospitality both at home and abroad.
